This is the book from which Jed first learned of Ryan's dreams. When Jed met Ryan, he signed Jed's book.

Where the idea came from

The Well
The Dirty Water

One fine day Ryan's teacher told his class about Africa. Some people in Africa didn't have clean water to drink and they had to drink yucky water. That gave Ryan the idea to earn money by doing chores so that he could build a well to help people get clear water to drink. His teach said it was $70. So he earned $70 and he went to the company to give it money. The company said it wasn't enough-- it was $2000! His spirits were sinking. His mom said, "Are you going to stop?" Ryan said, "No I am going to keep going." So after a while he earned $2000. He went back to the company and gave them the money. HOO-RAY! Ryan did it! That is why I want to earn money.

I want to raise money to build some wells and make the world a better place!

Jed wants to build a well....

When Jed was in Kindergarten he learned about Ryan Hreljac. From reading Ryan's book, Jed learned that there are people all around the world who do not have clean water to drink. Ryan worked by doing chores around the house, starting in grade 1, to raise money to build a well near a school in a Ugandan village.

Today, Ryan has helped to raise millions of dollars and build over 460 wells around the world.

Jed was thrilled to meet Ryan when Ryan visited Jed's school in 2007. Ryan inspired Jed to want to help.

Jed wants to help to build a well. He is working around the house to earn money and you can help. Jed will post blog entries to keep track of his progress.
